We offer practical preparedness training built for real-world emergencies. You will learn general contingency planning from the ground up, including how to identify hazards, build clear plans, create evacuation and reunification plans, and handle the logistics that make preparedness real.

Communications is a core focus, because coordination is what turns a plan into action. We teach PACE planning and how to build reliable communication options that hold up when normal systems fail, alongside broader skills and standards you can apply across scenarios. Everything is taught in plain language with practical examples and templates you can put to work immediately.

Hi, I’m Sam Amyett

I’m the founder of MAD Gear. I teach practical preparedness built for real emergencies, not internet drama.

Before this, I was a U.S. Navy Flight Officer and served as a Mission Commander, Combat Systems Officer, and Airborne Communications Officer aboard the E-6B Mercury (“the doomsday plane”). That job taught me two things fast: communication systems are more fragile than most people think, and “we’ll figure it out” is not a plan.

Now I apply that same comms-first, mission-planning mindset to everyday households and small teams. We help people build clear, written contingency plans, share them with the right people, and stay coordinated when normal infrastructure is degraded, unreliable, or gone.

MAD Gear’s planning system has helped 10,000+ people take real steps toward readiness. If you want to be the calm, capable person in the room when things get weird, you’re in the right place.
